As we are a charity, we organise a variety of fundraising events every year to which all proceeds go toward our residents’ fund.
As we always aim to provide the best for our residents, and because we never run out of ideas, our latest cause is to raise funds for a sensory garden. At the moment it is in the planning stage but it will feature a water feature, walkways full of colour, texture and lovely smells. Hopefully, in the future and the better weather our residents will be able to walk and enjoy the new garden.
Every spring we gather for our annual Daffodil Tea for a lovely morning and a delicious home bake in the company of our dear residents. This year it was held on Saturday 13th April. There were a number of stalls which included flowers, home bakes, crafts and jewellery. We also had a fantastic raffle with many prizes, the top prize being lunch for 4 with a bottle of wine at Howies.
With thanks to everyone who supported us on the day we managed to raise £1,800 which will go towards creating a Sensory Garden for our residents.
During August we host one of our biggest events, which is ‘The Northcote Gala’. Every year we keep our fingers crossed tightly for favourable weather. Our Head Chef always provides an excellent barbeque and there are also a variety of stalls to browse as well as a raffle with fantastic prizes. This year our Gala will be held on Saturday 10th August. Look out for more details in the coming months.
We couldn’t let Guy Fawkes go by without a celebration, ‘Northcote’ style. This is usually a private event for our residents and relatives and is marked with a fantastic display of fireworks! We also have hot chocolate with marshmallows, hotdogs and hamburgers after the fireworks display.
During the festive period a good time is always guaranteed as we have a lot of social activities for our residents to enjoy, to include visiting choirs, pantomimes and entertainers.
On Christmas Eve we always have live entertainment accompanied by mulled wine or bucks fizz and mince pies.
Last Christmas Day, we were very fortunate to have Santa Claus, break off from his busy schedule to pay a visit to Northcote Lodge. He spent a few hours visiting each and every resident, delivering Christmas presents.
Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Christmas with us.
