To enable our residents to look and feel their best we offer a range of accessible services. On admission residents are asked if they wish to remain with their GP if in catchment area. If this is not feasible, Northcote Lodge has built up an excellent rapport with the local GP practices and residents will be offered to register with them. We have regular medical review meetings which enhances the wellbeing of our residents.
The community dentist will visit free of charge
Vision Care at Home regularly visit the home to provide professional eye care service ensure residents’ eyesight is maintained.
Psychotherapist/ Occupational Therapists
Referrals can be made through your GP
A free service is provided by the NHS Chiropodist. At times, there can be a lengthy wait, therefore we have a private chiropodist who can be contacted for an additional charge.
Transport for residents is provided for all medical appointments as we benefit from having a minibus with an automatic tail lift for disabled access, as well as a small car, also suitable for wheelchair use.
We have a laundry facility which ensures the residents’ personal clothing is laundered to a high standard and delivered back to their room within 24 hours.
We have a trained hair stylist who visits the home two days per week. Price list is in the salon. All of our residents look forward to getting their hair done.
Daily Mass Service
Private mass is celebrated every morning at 10am in our beautiful Roman Catholic chapel. Residents of all faiths are welcome to attend. It is not a requirement to be of Catholic faith to join the Mass or to sit and have quiet time in the Chapel. Church of Scotland services are also held fortnightly.
We have a full time Activities Coordinator who organises recreational activities within the home Monday to Friday and a Weekend Assistant Coordinator who ensures our residents keep active at the weekend. All residents are encouraged to join in. A range of indoor activities like bingo, knitting, bowling, aromatherapy foot massage, exercise classes, arts & crafts and sing a longs are held regularly.
Doric afternoons, as well as reminiscence afternoons including Aberdeen reminiscence are some of our residents’ favorites. We try to accommodate any suggestions when possible. Residents can pursue their own interests which again, we will encourage and assist you to do this. Residents have the opportunity to go on seasonal outings such as trips to tea houses, theatre or sing a longs held in town.
We celebrate many calendar events throughout the year such as Easter, Halloween, Guy Fawkes, Christmas and New Year. Each resident’s birthday is celebrated with a party and a delicious home baked birthday cake.
